TMJ Disorders in Jupiter, FL

A small joint you use thousands of times a day.

About TMJ Disorders

Understanding TMJ Disorders

The temporomandibular joint connects the jaw to the skull just in front of the ear. TMJ disorders cover a range of problems affecting that joint and the muscles around it, producing jaw pain, clicking, restricted opening, facial aching and often headache.

Clenching and grinding, stress, dental factors and neck posture are all common contributors, and the jaw and the upper neck share close muscular and neurological connections.

TMJ disorders are listed among the areas Dr. Newmark's Jupiter practice focuses on. Dental causes belong with your dentist, and the two are often best addressed in parallel.

What patients describe

Symptoms people mention when they come in:

  • Jaw pain or tenderness in front of the ear
  • Clicking or popping when opening
  • Difficulty opening wide or chewing
  • Aching around the temple or face
  • Headache alongside jaw symptoms
  • Waking with a tight jaw

How we help

TMJ Disorders at our Jupiter office

Dr. Newmark takes your history and examines the jaw alongside the neck and upper back, assessing range of motion, muscle strength and more. The report of findings explains what was found and how to address it.

Where the picture points to a dental cause such as bite alignment or a grinding habit needing a guard, she will refer you back to your dentist.

When to seek medical care first

A jaw that locks open or closed, significant swelling, or jaw pain with chest discomfort, breathlessness or nausea needs urgent assessment. The last can be a sign of a heart problem.

Payment options

Back to Health is committed to ensuring chiropractic care is accessible to you and your loved ones. We accept Medicare, but Medicare does not cover all charges in a chiropractic office.

We do not submit claims to private health insurance providers. If you opt to request reimbursement from your insurance provider, we can provide an itemized document. With this, you can submit the documentation to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement of services.

By eliminating costly and labor-intensive follow-up communication related to insurance claims, we can lower administrative costs. This lower overhead means lower cost visits for patients.

What our patients say

In our patients' own words

A few of the reviews shared by people treated at our Jupiter office.

Roy A.
Dr. Newmark has the ability to truly feel what her patients are experiencing and a keen understanding of how to treat each one individually. She is a true healer and has really helped me overcome back challenges, I highly recommend her.
Paul H.
Dr. Paula Newmark is amazing! Previous chiropractors made me "sore" from a visit. I have been rear ended three times in 7 years and I only go when needed. She isn't one of those "come every week" type. She is come when you need me. I can't thank her enough for her caring and talent.
Erik K.
My treatment with Dr Newmark has had terrific results. Dr Newmark has helped me get back to a normal life of golfing and doing things I haven't done in years.
Margot T.
Dr Newmark is a true partner on your journey to better chiropractic health.
Jennifer M.
She is an excellent communicator, and she has truly helped me with my chiropractic needs/health.
Victoria C.
I refer to her time and time again to anyone who will listen to me!
