Your first visit begins with your history and symptoms, then a thorough chiropractic exam assessing range of motion, muscle strength and more. If you have had x-rays or MRIs taken, bring them. Dr. Newmark reviews existing imaging and may prescribe x-rays where they are needed to assess your spine.
You then receive a report of findings: a detailed analysis of the problem that brought you in and how to address it, taking into account your current lifestyle, your goals and the challenges in the way. Adjustments follow from that conversation rather than preceding it.
Her whole-person approach looks for what is driving the problem instead of treating a symptom on its own, which is why an adjustment is often paired with wellness counseling or instruction in stretching and exercise.
What to expect on a first visit
Nothing is adjusted before the examination and report of findings are complete. If the findings point to something outside the scope of chiropractic care, Dr. Newmark will tell you so directly.

Follow up visits cover treatment and maintenance as well as wellness and prevention. Dr. Newmark provides chiropractic adjustments as needed along with wellness counseling and recommendations, and may add instruction in stretching and exercise.
